BUSY There ain’t much satan can do about keeping Christians from going to church. He can't keep us from reading our Bibles and knowing the truth. He can't even keep us from forming a relationship with our savior. Once we make that connection with Jesus, the devil’s power over us is broken. So how will ole slough foot, get us? I think he gets us so BUSY (B-eing U-nder S atan's Y-oke) that we don’t have the time to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ. He will make us too busy to pray in the morning and keep that vital connection throughout our day! Now how does he do that you ask, by keeping us busy in the non-essentials of life. He invents all kinds of schemes to occupy our minds. He will make us think we have to go to work long hours, 6 to7 days each week, 10 to 12 hours a day. This lie keeps us from spending time with our family. Then as our families fall apart, our homes will offer no escape from the pressures of this world! He will fill our minds with junk so that we cannot hear that still, small voice. He will entice us to fill our minds, when driving, with non-Christian music. We left home this morning with a connection with Jesus, but the music of the world will jam our minds and break that connection. He gave us Santa Claus to distract us from teaching our children the real meaning of Christmas. He gave us the Easter Bunny so we won't talk about Jesus and his resurrection and power over sin and death. The ole devil has been at this a lot longer then me and you have been Christians, so he has gotten very good at gettin us too busy to go out into the country side and reflect on God's creation. He will send us to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead." And even when we meet for spiritual fellowship, he will get us all involved with gossip and small talk so that we leave with troubled consciences. The devil will crowd our lives with so many good causes that we have no time to seek power from Jesus. Soon we will be working on our own strength, sacrificing our health and family for the good of some cause we were not called into so we will have just a little time for God or our families. We have severely handicapped ourselves by allowing no time to tell others about the power of Jesus to change lives. I said all that to say this…Let us seek the Lord in all that we do. There are many good causes to hitch our wagons to, and many soap boxes to climb up on. Ask God what He would have us do. Let him lead and we follow.
