A Light In The Darkness
The best thing to happen in human history was the night Jesus was born. The light of man was presented to us in the form of a little baby who seemingly wanted nothing more than to be held and loved by his mother.
John wrote( John 1:4-5) in Christ was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not understood it.
Maybe you have expected God to reveal himself to you in certain way, or maybe you prayed for something for a long time and because God had not yet responded you felt as though he did not hear your prayers.
God hears all of our prayers. he knows our deepest need just as he knew mankind’s real need when Jesus was born. This is the why he sent his son to earth.
Back when Jesus was born, the people thought they needed someone to physically release them form Roman rule, God knew the deeper need of their hearts. They needed a savior someone who could save them form the bondage of sin, This is what Jesus does for those who are lost and without God. He provides a way through the darkness of sin, fear doubt, hopelessness and rebellion. The light of his sacrificial Love draws us to him where our needs are fully met.
We need a savior just as much today as when Jesus was born. The light of Gods Mercy and Grace hasn’t dimmed one bit. John 1:9-12 says there was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man that he came to his own, and those who were his own did not receive him. But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God , even to those who believed in his name.
The light for Gods’ love enters our being, causing us to desire him instead of the idols of this dark world. In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus told his disciples. “You are the Light of the World”
Material things, human reasoning, or a one world view will not satisfy the inner longing of mankind’s heart. only the Love of God can fill the emptiness of a broken soul. Because Christ lives in us though the Holy Spirit, we are his lights of hope to a lost and dying world. The Apostle Paul tells us to “Shine like the Stars in the Universe as we hold out the word of life< Philippians 2:15>
Looking at cripple man in Acts 3, Peter said “ I do not possess Silver and Gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene-walk< Verse 6> Peter helped the man stand.
Just minutes before, this man had begged for what he thought was his need: Money. But God knew what he needed most and gave him healing.
Starting a new year does Jesus burn in your heart? Does Jesus shine form with in you like stars on a dark night bringing hope to the hopeless and lifting those who are struggling? Let us pray this prayer for the new year “Lord, make me a reflection of your love and gift of salvation to someone who needs you. Give me the strength to accept your unfailing love for my own life, and teach me how to worship you in a greater way. Lord make me sensitive to at least one person trapped in darkness who needs to hear of your saving grace”.
A simple word of hope, truth, or encouragement may be all it takes to open heaven’s door to a lost and dying soul. I pray the light of Gods love fill your life with hope and purpose this coming year.
See ya down the road!! God Bless!!
