TREETOP

I woke up, it was dark. A glance at the clock said, 4:18am. What was I doing awake so early. I whispered a prayer for the service the J.C.Riders would have later in the morning and tried to go back to sleep. Two hours later I was about to get up and go get sound equipment. By 7:30 I was on my way to Sheridan and Judy was pulling the trailer. We rolled in and greeted our fellow servants and set up the equipment and tent and got situated for the service. Praise music was filling the air as we watched the town awake and come to life.
At about 9:50, a lone biker rode in and parked his bike with the rest of ours. Frank and I looked at each other and started walking toward him for introductions. His name was Tommy and he was in town from Memphis visiting sick family. We chatted with him and made him feel comfortable when the clock tower suddenly struck 10:00am. It was time to get the service under way. Judy was at the piano now and we started singing some old familiar chorus' and got the crowd of about sixty"s attention.
David came up and sang then Emily had to follow (sorry Emilly, I won't do that to ya again). The youth from Sheridan's First Assembly came and really wowed us with musical drama. At one point I noticed Tommy at his bike and thought he was leaving. I didn't know anything about him or where he was headed. I was running the sound and changing tapes so.. well, away, more singing from various artists and then the drama group did a skit depicting the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus that brought tears, cheers and applause from everyone. Then Frank stepped up to the mic and as the crowd settled in to there seats, he sang and then spoke about the roll Judas played in the life and death of Christ. His words were sent from the Father and they moved among the crowd. In some places they were being comprehended while in others they were slipping into eternity. An invitation was given. Frank asked us to bow our heads and close our eyes. Then the question, " Is there anyone here who does not know Jesus as your personal savior?" He asked for a show of hands. Some hands were lifted. He prayed a short prayer for those who raised a hand and asked them to prayer the sinners prayer with him. He led the prayer and asked us all the stand. He then told those who prayed the prayer that if they were serious about the prayer to take the next step and come forward and make a public profession of there faith. Without hesitation, Tommy moved from the steps of the courthouse to the front of the building. Applause filled the air and smiles were on each face. Frank introduced Tommy to the crowd and we all came up and gave him the right hand of Christian fellowship and a hug to go along with it. He stayed with us for a while and listened to encouraging words from people from different denominations. No one tried to fill his head with doctrine. It was "Christian" moment. They showed him love. After a while, he went to his bike and climb on and pulled away looking back and waving to us. I had a warm feeling inside and chill bumps on the outside from knowing that I was a part of some thing that will last for all eternity.
This day we all became "servants" and were "stirred" by what God did in our mist. It was great.
"Is there a servant in the house, who will carry the word out,
Is there a servant in the camp, who is not afraid to shout,
Is there a servant in this place who will say"let it be me"
Can we stir the servants heart to help a sinner be set free!"
God bless you all!
